Description
Aloke experienced the depth of spiritual drumming from his father and only guru, the late Anadinath Dutta, who played drums at Hindu temples. Anadinath had no expectation of monetary reward or media exposure in his mind while playing at the temples. He simply wanted to surrender to Him.
Aloke’s style of tabla playing, his aesthetic sense of art, and the presentation of his music were all developed from his father’s divinity. This album is the reflection of his long artistic and spiritual journey.
On this 63-minute disc, Aloke plays seven songs, which are set to even, odd and fraction meters. These are traditional songs, interpreting seven very different moods with Aloke’s contemporary ideas, while the underlying sentiments are always devotional and transcendental.
